Lipase Enzyme

Lipase is an enzyme that breaks down fats into fatty acid and glycerol molecules for absorption. As such it is essential for proper fat digestion, proper absorption of certain vitamins and minerals, and overall health. Supplementing with lipase can help reduce bloating, gas and fullness after meals. People who are deficient in lipase tend to have high blood levels of cholesterol and fat. Lipase deficiency is an inherited condition characterized by problems with the breakdown and use of fats and cholesterol in the body (lipid metabolism). In affected individuals, harmful amounts of fats (lipids) accumulate in cells and tissues throughout the body, which typically causes liver disease.
